Demo and Sketches

It's been a week so I thought I'd post a few things. First is a demonstration I did for illustration class. I promised the guys that I would post this. The rest are sketchbook things. More glimpses in to my unbalanced mind. I guess the big news is that I will be selling prints soon. I will need to sell at least three or I'll close up shop forever. Seriously I hope there is some interest out there. Check back if you are interested or even if you are not. And of course thanks for always coming back.

The piece you did that really hooked me in was Carnivore Pond. How come "Not really illustration... " is not really illustration? What's the difference between that and illustration? I'm glad you put the demo you did on your blog. I was trying to describe it to my husband. How wonderful you make a piece of cardboard look, but now I got to show it to him. He was as wowed as I was The thing is though that after you see a demonstration if you don't do it right away you sometimes forget how it's done, so, I wish you would videotape when you do demonstrations, and then put those on your blog and then we can remember what all you did. Like I remember you started with piece of cardboard and you had, gesso. And you had 2 kinds of charcoal, but I forgot the 2 brands of charcoal that you used. I remember one was darker than another. I thought it was really cool, that today you taught me how to do due thumbnail sketches. I've heard of them. I've seen them and never really knew how to do them but you described it perfectly today when you told me I could do 20 sketches in 20 minutes instead of 2. While everyone else was yakking about their artwork, I did 20 thumbnails. 20 ideas instead of 2. Thank you.

I really appreciate you want to share your knowledge of painting. Although you don't have to be afraid that someone can come close to your work because it's too good. But it's nice to give it a try. Most people won't tell their secrets. I hope you understand my english, I just want to thank you for sharing. Bye!

Lovely work! I admire your sense of volume, the things jump out at you!
The sketches are beautiful, simple but effective use of color.
