The Work of Bill Carman
Fierce! I love it!
Can you tell a bit what you've done with this picture on the computer. It doesn't have to be explained in detail. I don't know a thing about what you can do on a computer. I like the picture but I think I prefer painting. Bye.
i will attach a before pic so you can see the original drawing, then if you have questions ask away.
Okay, thank you. I see. The colour of the whole picture is a little bit warmer and I see the magenta bird, but can't you paint that? Why do you use the computer? Is it easier or is it for fun? But using the computer is not as bad as I thought, haha. Before I thought that you can do the computer let do the work but that's not true. I see you also have to paint. Thank you for let me see. I think I am a purist,I love brushes and paint I have nothing with computers I only read your blog. Bye bye.
ha ha, I mean paint-brushBrushes means something else?
Wow, it's amazing how one little line can totally change the feel of an image. I really like your choice in the digital one to extend the leash line to the edge. Nice balance. Even flow.
peet, I think there are many misconceptions about using the computer. For good digital artists the computer does not do the work. It provides an extra set of tools with which an artist can work. For example, with the leashes I wanted a harder edged, more graphic contrast element so it made more sense to do it digitally. I tried several colors and settled on this. It was then that I changed the bird color to match the leashes. If you want to checkout some great digital illustration check out sites like conceptart.org. Good artist have developed a whole new vocabulary of marks, colors, etc.. I personally still prefer traditional painting and drawing tools but love what I can do with the computer in certain contexts. I hope this helps you understand a little.
