New Drawing

For those of you in the Boise area, I will be having a show at the Brumfield Gallery (formerly Basement Gallery) in Hyde Park in March. There will be some high-end paintings but most of the exhibition will be drawings in the more affordable range. This is one such drawing. About 3.3 x 3.5 inches on paper.

"Masque?"

So, dumb question time:

What is the medium on that example? You said "drawing" but it looks like a painting from here. If it is a drawing, how do you get the paint-like quality? I associate the hazy colors with paint rather than colored pencils.

(I'd love to know how much something like this goes for, but it seems tacky to ask. I'm nowhere near the Boise area, anyway... Hmm. Do you sell online anywhere?)

Hope the show sells out and brings you much praise,

Alia

Not a dumb question at all. It's only a drawing because I call it a drawing. Sometimes it is very difficult to make a distinction. For me it is more about process than medium. This is very spontaneous and started with graphite and scratching. The drawing took me in another direction and I started using color. So painting-drawing not sure I can make exact distinctions. If you are really interested in something like this please email me at bcarman@boisestate.edu and I'll let you know what prices are like.

i love that you got so much feeling, depth and detail in tiny piece. it begs to get close to take it in.
