I got the go ahead to post this cover and title page for Polly Horvath's "The Canning Season". It is a great book and I really had a good time working on this. Thought I'd show you all that I could do something a little more mainstream. The top is the finish with April Ward's, the art director for this project at Square Fish, type treatment. She actually based it on my hand drawn type from the title page. I thought I'd throw some progress shots in with the mix cause I can post anything I want on my own blog.

Cool, thanks for showing us process shots!
What is the ground you're using? Is that mylar? And the paint, what is that? You can tell I'm not an illustrator, but your work just keeps me in awe.
the bookcover turned out beautifully!
thanks for the progress shots, they're cool to see.
Beautiful - it's always fun to get a peek at the process too.
I'm guessing it's acrylic...
Thanks all! This is acrylic on a gessoed masonite panel. It's a familiar surface to me so when I'm under a tight deadline I like to use it..
So beautiful. I'm fan.
sweet, great illustrations. 5 star
