Book o' Sketches

Haven't done a sketchbook post in awhile and I always sketch so here is a sketchbook post.

 Did these in class. Mostly I just wanted to show my guys the finished product. They took about what, 20-40 minutes? Like I said, I try to do something a little different than I usually do with these. Very fun.

Same thing a little larger. This one took and hour or hour and a half. Too much fun. Back to work. Oh wait, this is work.

I'm working on a particularly intense copper painting. These little distractions sure help. They take under 30 minutes and are so liberating. Let me know if want to stop seeing them.

Fun experimentation is always a part of what I do. Sometimes I lose touch with that for short periods. Bad Bill. These only take a few minutes but I can learn so much and have a blast doing them.

Sketch 'em up

I let a week go by. Got caught up with the holidays and my new toy, yes I was surprised with an iPad. For those who know me, especially my students, I know what you're saying; he can barely answer a cell phone. Well you'll see. I'll make this beautiful thing work. But I won't read any books with it. Anyway here are some sketchbook pages. Should have another painting up soon.

Chester Shat a Kidney

When I do a drawing I like to create a digitally colored version as an exercise and to see how it might look as an illustration. Sometimes it makes the drawing cooler and sometimes not.

It's Done

This is it. Been working on this for quite some time. It's the largest painting I've done in awhile and was a blast to paint. One of those that to which I just kept adding. Man I love that I get to do this.
