Print from Gallery Nucleus
For those of you looking for an inexpensive way to have me in your home Gallery Nucleus is providing a giclee print of "Narwhal Rain". It is currently only $30 and is 12x16 inches on watercolor paper. Sadly, or maybe not so much, they are not signed. But for that price don't even try to complain.

Bye Bye Blue
I stopped by Boise Blue the other day to pick up a few things they donated to students, still generous in defeat, and they were cleaning out the store. All the old stuff. History buried under layers of merchandise. They will be sorely missed. I was given some things like old message books with the carbon sheets still intact, and old binders etc.. I found a way to use the message slips in drawings which will hang on the "cheap" wall during my September/October show. These are 4x6 inches and will go for $20-40 dollars so save your pennies. What am I gonna do without Boise Blue?
I'll post a new painting today or tomorrow if all goes well.

For My Guys
This is an end of semester offering for my students. They all know how much I dislike the word cute uttered during any discussion of artwork in class. In honor of my guys and those discussions here is: "I Fuckin' Hate Cute". Now, outside the classroom cute seems to be a common occurrence in my life. Cute things everywhere. Puppies, kids, mice, birds, and on and on. I have not forbidden the word in my life only in my classroom. So thanks to my students for working so hard and being pretty cool.

Twilight Zone Episode 73
Finally finished my piece for the Twilight Zone Show at Gallery 1988 in SoCal. This was a great episode starring Billy Mumy of later Lost in Space fame. I loved Lost in Space as a kid.

Skins
If you just don't have enough Bill Carman in your life then here's your chance to have me in your pocket or purse. Another company, izozzi, has put my work on skins. This group is local and does skins for i products; iphone etc.. Just starting with me but there are a few choices. I understand that there will be more soon. So go have a look.

Faces
I pound my guys over the head about drawing from life. Draw from life to learn to draw. When you start feeling comfortable about your drawing abilities then you can use cool photos which people send to you to draw from. Actually in a pinch drawing from a photo now and then can help one learn but cannot replace drawing from life. Translation from 3 to 2d is such an important thing to learn and make instinctive. These were all done in different sizes with a ballpoint pen. I wanted to show what the line looks like when it is enlarged. It holds a beautiful texture and personality.

Perhaps add a little color

In a pinch you can make an illustration from your drawings. I just used the "nose bleed" illustration filter in photoshop and this is ready to send off to the client.

Stuff of Legend
Another drawing. But this drawing goes to someone in trade. You never know, if you have a cool book that I like you too can have an original Bill Carman drawing. Yippeee! If you see this KJ you'll know what a lucky person you are. Seriously, I got a cool book out of the deal. Now if someone can come up with the first or second edition of James Jean's first Process Recess book there's a painting in it for you.

Micro Visions
Every year a group of artists is chosen to do a painting to be auctioned for the Society of Illustrators, NY student scholarship fund. I was honored to be among the artists invited for this years MicroVisions. You should see the list of incredible artists with whom I'll being exhibiting. Irene Gallo, art director at Tor, Forge, & Starscapes Books, along with Dan Dos Santos, artist, are the organizers of this event. Check out her site for details and to see the artwork as it comes in. This is my humble offering: Gondola Security. It is 5 x 7 inches on copper.
